British Rom Takes No Quarter

The original Spaceknight doll was sold as part of the Action Man toy line in the UK. I'm afraid that only gave their version of Rom a license to shoot guys in spacesuits.

Ah yes, the Intruders: "Strong Men from Another World." This was during the desperate days of G.I. Joe distancing itself as far as possible from the Vietnam War. The Intruders figures were pretty damn lame. Give me a "real-life hair and beard" any day.

Rom must have been hungry for some neutralizing since he is speaking with his stomach when zaaaping the beings of evil.

Rom has no mouth, but he has a chest grille. Maybe it's Marvel that was making him speak from the wrong place.

For what it's worth, this ad is a very faithful recreation of the actual audio/video that the Rom toy would make. With the analyzer, you'd press a button and it would randomly gong once or twice (for good or evil, per manual). The rear rockets could roar, and he also had a "respirator" sound (kind of a Darth Vader-y inhale/exhale). The speaker was in the abdomen, so that's where all the sounds came from.
