Spaceknight Saturdays: Ye Olde Recappe Issue

Back in the days when we didn't have Wikipedia, we didn't have comic book stores with back issues in every town, and we didn't have trade paperback collections, we used to rely on issues like these to tell us what the hell was going on. And they'd usually come out right after a major story arc ended. I remember, for example, Alpha Flight #13 being a recap of the previous 12 issues, which was perfect because my first issue was #12 (the first death of Guardian). These issues are jumping on points before a new arc begins, and might very well help a new reader who was attracted by the big double-sized blow-out that preceded it.

For the collector though, they're more than a little redundant, but back when comics were 75¢ Canadian, it wasn't that big a deal. Today, we would rightly crucify anyone who'd make us pay 4$ for a recap issue. I'm more upset about the loss of Akin & Garvey on inks! (Choke!)

Rom 51 goes back to the origin of the Dire Wraith conflict and the creation of the Spaceknights, through Rom's arrival on Earth and the eventual decimation of Clairton's population. Rom, in fact, goes public!
An interesting way to both recap the series AND change the status quo at the same time. Clairton gets "buried" this issue, so can definitely expect Rom and Starshine to bring the fight elsewhere. It's not like there's a supporting cast to come to anymore.

There's also the matter of Starshine's increasingly violent behavior. She'll do anything to destroy the Dire Wraiths, including break the law. I mean, this goes against every baseball rule I've ever known:
So we know where we've been, can Rom tell us where we're going?
It's war... and we're being drafted! But watch out, Spaceknights! The Dire Wraiths get cable too!
It's TOTAL WAR! And it starts next week, only on Spaceknight Saturdays.
