PUBLICATION: Star Trek v.2 #11, DC Comics, August 1990
CREATORS: Peter David (writer), Gordon Purcell and Arne Starr (artists)
STARDATE: Unknown (follows the last issue)
PLOT: On day one of Kirk's trial, a number of witnesses are trotted out, mostly to embarrass him, figures from his past (i.e. the television series). Among these is Prefect Witten who adds to a charge of attempted murder because he believes Kirk infected him with a disease. After the day wraps up, Fouton confesses he was the one who did it...
CONTINUITY: The trial characters of course include the Federation president, Klingon ambassador, Sarek, Cogsley and Shaw. Among the witnesses, we find Anan 7 (A Taste of Armageddon, after which Eminiar and Vendikar went to bloody war), Bela Oxmyx (A Piece of the Action, he returns McCoy's communicator), Leonard James Akaar (who was just a baby in Friday's Child), and the Prefect of New Brinden (issue #6). The Klingon Emperor is heading for Earth.
DIVERGENCES: None (though the existence of Kahless IV is still suspect, and he looks a lot older than the last time we saw him in the previous series).
PANEL OF THE DAY - It's like the final episode of Seinfeld.
