1043. Consorting With the Devil!
PUBLICATION: Star Trek: The Next Generation #37, DC Comics, September 1992
CREATORS: Michael Jan Friedman (writer), Peter Krause and Pablo Marcos (artists)
STARDATE: Unknown (follows the last issue)
PLOT: Ardra informs Picard that though she came to Shanzibar to marry the wizened king and inherit his money, she soon came across a conspiracy by his advisers to poison him and rule by his hospital bed. She was locked away for knowing too much in the same jail Picard and his landing party landed in. After Troi confirms Ardra is telling the truth, the groups stages a breakout. Now they must enter the royal palace and stop the coup...
CONTINUITY: Ardra (Devil's Due).
DIVERGENCES: None.
PANEL OF THE DAY - I'm sure I saw this scene on Deep Space Nine.
REVIEW: The middle chapter uses Ardra relatively well and has both action and humor. Once again, I'm a little more interested in the few scenes on the ship (except Crusher's recap) than Picard's stiff posturing and Ardra's ludicrous advances. She's the male Okona! So I'm afraid Friedman is having trouble selling me his rogues.
