Type: The real deal (sadly)Top 7 things you should know about Superman's mullet
7. Grown while he was recuperating from being dead (and yet, Captain America came out of it without so much as hat hair).
6. That invulnerable stuff was a bitch to cut anyway.
5. Inspired a superhero mullet craze, victims of which include Aquaman and Nightwing.
4. The result of Pantene Pro-V's "grow your hair strong and long" marketing blitz.
3. Tapped into the too often ignored redneck market.
2. Knew enough to get a haircut before his wedding.
And the #1 thing you should know about Superman's mullet...
1. Really rubs Luthor's nose in it!

I will argue to my dying day that Superman's haircut was NOT a mullet. The general definition of mullet is short in front and on the sides, long in back. Superman's hair was long all over--longer in back, but that doesn't make it a mullet.

Alas, I am but a lone voice in the wilderness on this issue...

Nah, I actually agree with you. However, mullet is funnier.

Love, love, love the super-mullet. I have a Superman necktie purchased in the mid-90's, and thus featuring the mulleted Man of Steel. Awesome.

Didn't Clark Kent wander around with a ponytail about this time? HOW could no one connect that?

"Oh that Clark! Just because his idol Superman has long hair, he has to let his grow out too."
I did really love the long hair too, actually. It's the longer locks up front too (making it a non-mullet) that really make it work.

Although, yeah, like you say, he must have been using some major conditioning product or something; it was always so shiny!

I was on the Internet during this phase, and there were people online who were downright incensed that Superman had "hair like a girl". So even back then, it was not universally agreed what the haircut was.

"Faster than a speeding mullet" should have been the tag on the covers.
alright a posting about mullets! i have to admit i liked the long haired Superman look right after his return from the "dead". but then again i thought my mullet in high school was pretty cool too. an early superman mullet issue had this one female cop call him Fabio which i thought was pretty funny.
siskoid, when you have time your French linguistic skills could be helpful at my posting for Plastique today.

That really is the best reason for it.

Apparently, Superman was still a dick in the 90s. ;)
