Reign of the Supermen #23: Sunshine Superman

Source: Animal Man #23 (1990)
Type: Alternate EarthEarlier this week, Jeff R. wondered where all the Grant Morrison Supermen were, reminding me of just how many there were and that I really should get on that.

One of the earliest has to be Sunshine Superman, a member of the the Love Syndicate of Dreamworld, apparently from an Earth based on 60s music and psychedelia. He showed up in Animal Man's "Crisis II" story complaining about having been erased from continuity. Not that he had ever been seen as part of it before, of course. Sunshine Superman is really just a bit of fun based on the Donovan song (and album):
A reference to acid ("liquid sunshine"), the title is not part of the lyrics, but there is a superhero reference: "Superman or Green Lantern ain't got a-nothin' on me". Which makes the appearance of a Lantern in the above panel all the more appropriate.

Morrison cemented Sunshine Superman's place in the DC Multiverse with a cameo in Final Crisis #7. Can you spot what's changed since his last appearance?

Ah, the colours on the 'S' logo have changed, which is odd considered it isn't so much a 'shield' as a 'sun' in this instance, so yellow would be the more natural choice for a border. Was that what I was supposed to find?

That.

It wasn't the most advanced of puzzles. ;)

What, you're not even going to mention his civilian alter-ego, as revealed in Final Crisis? :)

Hahaha.

Well, I think I have a different post about Super-Obama in me.

Fair enough. I shall look forward to it.
