Source: Action Comics #586 (1987)
Type: TransformationThen there was that time Superman spent some time as Darkseid's son. Hey it wasn't so bad. The SBG tracked down the Super one and asked him a few questions to compile the following list:

Top 10 Things Superman Liked About Being Darkseid's Son
10. Likes to go out into the yard and shoot red beams at cans with the old man.
9. Apokalips' Female Fury clubs open 24/7.
8. Granny Goodness comes over every Saturday to make pancakes.
7. How Darkseid treats sons who are NOT disappointments.
6. Playing out his favorite Wrath of Khan moment after his head cleared:
5. More awesome trashtalking than at his regular job.
4. The Kirbyness of it all.
3. Being forced to bang yet another New God (Amazing Grace - Byrne had a thing for making Superman do that) isn't so bad.
2. Allowed to boss DeSaad around.
And the #1 thing Superman liked about being Darkseid's son...
1. Rocking the armor!

Orion is still jealous.

I liked the part of this story where Darkseid tells he regulary throw "saviours" to the Apokolips' underdogs to make them rise in revolt... The he crushes them without mercy, making them hopeless. It showed how really evil Darkseid is.

Back then, when I read it (at 7 years old or alike) I felt disapointed that Superman left Apokolips without saving poor Apokolips proletariat.

I guess he couldn't save the Hunger Dogs any more than he can solve world hunger on Earth.

Byrne really did have the ability to make villains truly evil (see also his Lex Luthor) by using mind games and cruelty rather than violence.

His Doctor DOom is also a favourite of mine!

Amazing Grace managed to do in a few pages what most lady villains couldn't do in years of potions, mind control, etc (sorry Maxima!). Don't subestimate the power of a jacuzzi!
