Geeks like to share their interests in niche pop culture. Hipsters jealously guard it because it's only cool if it's exclusive.
And I guess there's a look, a calculated fashion nerdiness that seems effortless but isn't. Clark Kent is at least THAT kind of a poser (though he has an ulterior motive).
