Reign of the Supermen #556: Zebra Superboy

Source: Superboy vol.1 #16 (1951)
Type: Impostor
"The Strange Costumes of Superboy" part the second: Meet Jack Meyers. He's serving time in the pen and has an uncommon resemblance to Superboy. And he fancies yachting.
He's getting out soon, so all he need is some cash to make his dreams come true. Thankfully, he's got a scheme and plastic surgeons in Smallville are DIRT CHEAP:
This kind of thing happens a lot more than you'd think. Some time later, Meyers calls Superboy over and gives him an ultimatum. Either he gives him his costume so he can steal Smallville bank's money transfer - part of Superboy's helpful routine - or he blows up half the town with a remote-detonated time bomb (that isn't what a time bomb is, Golden Age writer). Superboy can't take any chances, but can't give him the uniform on his back because it would "reveal [his] identity". You know, on account of that birthmark everyone knows Clark Kent has. It's a ploy, but Meyers buys it and gives Superboy 3 seconds to get a spare one. The spare one isn't Kryptonian in origin so it's vulnerable to instantaneous bleaching agents!
Because heat vision was called X-ray vision back then, we can more easily accept that he burned stripes on Meyers' front from the back. Right? And there you have it, it doesn't matter that he wears Superboy's face, Meyers is going to get fashionably profiled for wearing prison colors.

Next week: "The Strange Costumes of Superboy" continues as we go for the gold.

I think it's a laundry where they throw your colors in with your whites.
