Before Superheroes Had Quinjets and Stuff

Today, superheroes who can't get around on their own power have all taken a page from Batman and the more successful super-teams of the Marvel and DC Universes and gotten cars, jets and the occasional boat or Boom Tube. But back in the Golden Age, that wasn't necessarily a given.

Case in point the Phantom Lady, the Spider Widow and the Raven from Quality Comics. They frequently teamed up, but none of them had a car.
I mean, that's pretty common for people who live in a big city, right? But still, spring for a cab, guys. I know for a FACT two of of you are wealthy socialites!

Hell, I recall several issues of early Claremont X-Men that involved them having to fly to different countries on regular airlines. Despite having the Blackbird.

Do you know how EXPENSIVE jet fuel is?

Unless they had a mutant who sweated gas. I bet they eventually did.

Was this before or after the Wizard of OZ? The Spider Widow looks an awful lot like the Wicked Witch in this one. And the Raven may have inspired Killer Moth!

As reference, this was from Feature Comics #69, 1943.

The Wizard of Oz came out in 1939, though the book is of course older.

Killer Moth premiered in Batman #63, 1951.
