Sometimes, You Just Want to Read

I had an article all planned out. All I had to do was finish the research and write it. But I was almost done with the book I was reading, and eager to start the next one, so... How about just looking at superheroes reading? All images culled from the Internet and shared for your fair use pleasure with mouseover jokes.
Ok, nose back in my book.

You know, Wonder Woman's pose does not look all that comfortable, long-term. The arm with all the weight on it would get tired, and the arm holding the book single-handed would get tired... plus, have you ever tried holding a book one-handed? Admittedly, it is worse with paperbacks, but even so- the darn thing doesn't want to stay open, and slips VERY easily. (Maybe her thumb is holding it open; I can't tell... at least Superman is propping his book open with his chest.)

Unless super-balance and lack of proportional muscle tiring is part of superheroics. Somehow, I always just figured that even though a superhero's limb might contain more strength than mine, it would still tire from holding itself up just as easy as mine would. Perhaps Wonder Woman's powers simply include unfatigueable muscles that make eye-candy poses comfortable instead of unlikely.

Also, Superman is one fumble away from losing his book to the fires of re-entry. Which he probably will when he tries to go back to Earth anyway. Unless he's just on his way to the Watchtower.

Reading books in open space is probably not a viable idea, but superhero strength and stamina means they can read in almost any position without tiring.

Batman, of course, plans to throw the book at a criminal.

Sorry to lower the tone, but that's a really unfortunate placing of the web in relation to Spidey's body.

Where do you think webs come out of on real spiders?
