I think it was meant to be a mystery as to whether or not Durgan actually WAS the Chief Examiner, or whether Durgan had somehow summoned or created the Examiner to help his people. I noticed in that close-up panel that Durgan has three stubby fingers, rather than the four long, slender fingers on the Chief Examiner...I don't know whether or not this was meant to be a clue about the Examiner's nature.

I know that the planned fourth issue of the Questprobe mini-series eventually ran in Marvel Fanfare #33, and the Chief Examiner later reappeared in a storyline in Quasar, but I don't know whether anything about his nature, identity, or mission was actually resolved.

Well, cat burglars ARE pretty confusing :) Another great episode ... I knew Clea would be universally loved. I'm thinking Darkstar will get unanimous "hots" next issue too.

Siskoid, don't let anyone tell you Commodore 64s weren't cool--I had one too. I never played Questprobe, but I have fond memories of some other text-based games like Tome of Aliard and (of course) Zork.

The Zork series of course. My other favorites were Hitchhiker' Guide to the Galaxy and Planetfall.

Regarding Chthon: I've always heard his name pronounced as K'thon, the same way that Cthulu is pronounced. I mean, he is an "Elder God" after all.

That makes a lot of sense.
