Krypto #128: The Return of Krypto

From: Superman #167, Superman: The Man of Steel #111, Action Comics #776 (April 2001)

Superboy's terrier slipped out of the stories no doubt because the Superman editorial offices were planning on bringing the Kryptonian Krypto back. How? In Return to Krypton, Superman starts to suspect he is actually from a pre-Crisis Krypton that survived in the Phantom Zone, actually a copy created by Brainiac 13 based on Jor-El's favorite golden era. In any case, what's important is that this Krypton has a Krypto!
And though not "super" on Krypton, he's still useful in a scrap.
And in the end, even after the gates close on this throwback Krypton, one piece of if manages to squeeze out:
And suddenly, we have a real, not-a-homage, not-imaginary, Krypto in post-Crisis continuity. Stick around, we're not done yet.
