One Panel #401-402: The JSA vs. the Monsters

From Atom: "Sabotage" by Bill O'Connor, Ben Flinton and Leonard Sansone, All-American Comics #29 (August 1941)

I don't know why this should be, but on-sale month of June 1941 felt the need to pit a couple of Justice Society members against monster men. Like the one above, tattooed as Sabotage (hey Beastie Boys, kick it!) merely representational of the threat, but it's still a nice image. Or how about...

From JSA: "The Justice Society of America Initiates Johnny Thunder!" by Gardner Fox and Bernard Bailey, All-Star Comics #6 (August 1941)

...these man-apes who fight Hour-Man in All-Star Comics--hey, no hair pulling!

If it had happened a third time, I would have called it a conspiracy.

That the Atom panel is the most baffling political cartoon I've ever seen. I am allowed to wonder where the Atom's rope is dangling from, or why he is so huge.

We are totally in the metaphorical here.
