The Rest of Agamotto

Everybody knows the Eye of Agamotto, Doctor Strange's principal amulet. In the movies, they powered it with an Infinity Stone, but in the comics, when it opened, there was an actual eye there, presumably belonging to a cosmic or mystical entity known as Agamotto. There was also a crystal ball called the Orb of Agamotto, so the Eye was, I suppose, the portable version. But what did the rest of Agamotto look like? Oh man, I wish you hadn't asked that.

You know, when people discuss trippy 1970s Marvel comics writers, most people will mention to psychedelia of Steve Gerber or Jim Starlin, but they should not neglect Steve Englehart as a member of that far-out club. In his 1974 Doctor Strange series, he had the Sorcerer Supreme go INTO the Orb of Agamotto to meet the being that was the source of so much of his power. And, uhm...
Agamotto is the giant, hookah-smoking caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland?!
Maybe you like his battle form better.
Still a caterpillar though. Does he ever become a biewtiful butterfly?

Englehart never told that story, but I think I'm ready for it.

Didn’t they update him and use him as a character in the 90s, possibly in the future realm of the original GOTG?

Or am I confusing him with another super powered marvel worm character? I love comics because of sentences like that :-)

Also not the right post for this, but the Zero Hour podcast is awesome.

I will take the compliment wherever I can get it.

As for Marvel worms, I have no answers. Yet.

Sorry I was thinking of this guy, I wa a huge fan of the early 90s GOTG when it was coming out:

Although from his appearance you think he has to at least be an homage ...
