oHOTmu or NOT Ep.58: The Sambuca Special

It's become a tradition after every second issue: We revisit issues 5 and 6 of the Official Handbook and look at what happened to some of those characters after 1985. Especially fashion-wise. Which are still Hot, which are still Not, and which have been redeemed or condemned? Get your shot glasses out and strike a match, we're burnin' down the house.

Featuring permanent panelists Elyse, Isabel, Nathalie, Josée, Amélie and Shotgun.

Yeah, that's more Brendan Fraser context than I ever imagined possible. Just for the record, I'm not attracted to men and I've never seen George of the Jungle. Siskoid, I think maybe you're right about it being a generational thing; I think I'm a year younger than you, so maybe we're just too old to get it.

Another cool episode with some great lines. I love the one about "constant ridiculous guns" ... welcome to the 90s. And if they thought Kate Bishop had too many straps on her costume, you should show them some early X-Force; it'll melt their brains.

I was surprised Sue's number 4 boob window was so well liked. As for Hellcat, I don't know if any of you are Xena fans, but Hellcat's toe-claws reminded me of that line from If the Shoe Fits: "My clippings!"

By the way, I checked my Spider-Man annual with the Iron Man of 2020 and his speech patterns were basically normal. He used some made up "futuristic" slang and was kind of rude (because Arno Stark was an asshole), but the dialogue was normal, not any kind of weird electronic speech or anything.
