From "War Album No. 1 -- The Siege of Troy" by Jack Kirby, Boy Commandos #3 (June 1943)
Issue 3 of the Boy Commandos' series introduces the "War Album" concept, in which readers are asked to imagine the Boys living in other times and places, complete with Brooklyn's bowler hat - Rip Carter and the other kids are at least in period clothes - and here are shown has participants in the Trojan War, on the Greek side, as the very soldiers who hid inside the famous horse. Did Jack Kirby do many of these? They're a hoot! And a great way to diversify stories in a book that requires several potentially similar tales each issue (plus their spot in Detective Comics)!
