Monster: Clayface
Game/Product: DC Adventures/Heroes & Villains Vol.1
Origin: Basil Karlo, the original Clayface, was originally a Phantom of the Opera type, and it was the second, Matthew Hagen, who had the shape-shifting powers. Over time, DC conflated the two, and now Clayface is sometimes former actor Basil Karlo, either way a big mud monster. So while the stats above are for Hagen, there's no real difference anymore (you should remove the weakness, however).
Fear Level: It's a superhero universe, but in Gotham City, the villains CAN be pretty scary. Clayface is hideous (I think the movie will make him even uglier) and on the existential front, can take the place of anyone you love, or of yourself. And then you see them melting. Brr.
Danger Level: High. More than a match for Batman, Clayface would give a lot of powered heroes a run for their money, too. He has a hard clay form that's superstrong, and a flowing clay form that's hard to hit. Even if destroyed, his constituent parts will reform. AND he can impersonate others and screw up your life.
Famous examples: Good stories where he's played as a monster include his episodes of Batman: The Animated Series, the recent Batman and Robin: Year One 12-issue mini-series by Mark Waid and Chris Samnee, and the current Clayface mini-series (Celebrity Dirt) by Jude Ellison S. Doyle and Fran Galán.
I wonder if: The movie will be any good, but then I'll see anything with Naomi Ackie in it. Comes out last week of October.
