As a weird follow-up to my One Film for Every Year Since Film Has Existed project, I want to go beyond 2026 and watch movies that take place, fully or partially, in each year beyond, basically ending as soon as I hit a year I can't fill.
Warning: Probably a lot of bad sci-fi ahead!
Obviously, Children of Men is preferable to Babylon A.D. or Stranded (for 2027), but I've seen one and not the others. It's always going to be something I haven't watched or at least reviewed (like Demolition Man). Happily, I've found a more intriguing Brazilian movie from 2019 that takes place '27 to fill the slot. I'm hoping for some neat discoveries, but there's also a certain joy in mocking bad movies.
This is a bit inspired by my good friends Nath and Marty annually watching a movie set in the coming year every New's Year's Day. You know, to see if the movies "got it right". If they want to use the top part of this list to guide their next few choices, up to them. Me, i think I can get up 2050, in film if not in life (jury's out).
