One Panel #894: Here We Go!

From Doll Man: "Fate Dealt the Cards" by Al Bryant, Feature Comics #69 (July 1943)

Quality Comics are still the kings of the interesting panel layout, here making Doll Man drop on someone's head from a high shelf in a diagonal layout. I'm always happy to see the early comics artists experiment with something other than boxes and "Bob Kane" circles. Almost as happy as I am flipping through "tiny superhero" strips to see them interact with giant props.

I'm a simple man, at heart.

  1. Hi! I've been lurking on your blog for a bit, so I figured I'd finally comment.
I'm just getting back into comics after a 20-year hiatus, but I do remember the fun insanity of Doll Man comics. Speaking of, isn't it stated in his origin that Doll Man is somewhat insane himself due to the shrinking process? I have to re-read these.
But yes, Quality Comics had some great artwork for the time, at least on their flagship titles.
    Awesome blog!

    1. I don't remember there being a madness component to Doll Man's origin, but I may be going by later portrayals. Thanks for chiming in! - Siskoid
